YOUTH & FAMILY SERVICES


Breakthrough’s Youth and Family Services Program creates a safe environment that encourages personal development and school completion for neighborhood youth. The Program also connects families and community members with opportunities for advancement.
*Youth Program Components* Breakthrough Beginners - an educational program for pre-school children The Nettie Bailey Student Achievement Program - after-school tutoring for grade school children The Extra-Mile Program - college preparation, guidance, and encouragement for high school students Kids’ Café - hot meals for students enrolled in the after-school program Life Skills Seminars - promotes social and emotional development of high school students Health and Fitness Program - promotes physical activities and healthy lifestyles Summer Studies - helps students maintain and increase literacy skills The Youth and Family Services Program is based on a network model for youth development, which encourages several individuals to invest in each boy or girl. The approach allows the young person to receive positive affirmation from numerous role models

Volunteer Opportunities

Tutoring - Tutor youth enrolled in the Nettie Bailey Student Achievement Program.

Assistant Teaching - Provide help to teachers in the Breakthrough Beginners Program.

Coaching - Encourage team building and good sportsmanship through a variety of sports.

Wish List

We are unable to pick up donations. Please drop off items for youth at Breakthrough's Joshua Center (3330 W. Carroll Ave., Chicago) on Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
