| Breakthrough Urban Ministries is more than just an organization helping
people in need. As many involved at Breakthrough have come to discover,
we are like a family – made up of staff, program participants,
volunteers, and donors.
One program participant experienced this firsthand several weeks ago.
“I was on my way to a job interview when a man stopped me on the
street,” remembers Rosendo.
“You look familiar,” said the man. He went on to tell Rosendo that he supports Breakthrough and remembered seeing him in a recent e-news feature. The two talked for several minutes, and then the donor asked, “Can I pray for you?”
Rosendo
was happy to accept. Besides needing a new job, he needed a place to
stay because his rent had become too expensive. The two men prayed,
shook hands, and went on their respective ways.
“I got the job
later that day!” says Rosendo, smiling. He has since found temporary,
overnight shelter as well. “And the thing is, he didn’t even know that
I was on my way to a job interview. I didn’t mention it. I was just
touched that he remembered me and cared enough to pray for me.”
