Organized athletics is a critical aspect of Breakthrough’s well-rounded programming offered to youth in East Garfield
Park.
“This job was a great fit for the field that I’ve
studied,” says Robin, who graduated from Trinity International
University with a degree
in Sport and Wellness Management. “But I love the kids and their families.
Whether it’s my faith or my knowledge and passion for sports, I want to give
back to the community.”
Robin will oversee the planning and organization of all of
the seasonal sports leagues, which benefit hundreds of neighborhood youth.
“It’s a great opportunity to teach youth values that they can carry with them,”
she says. “I look forward to meeting the parents and finding ways that we can
help their children grow and develop in Christ.”
Summer sports have just begun, but Robin is already
planning for the seasons ahead. “We can always use volunteer coaches,” she
says. “We also need shorts for high school and junior high basketball teams,
t-ball uniforms, and visors for the softball team.”
